The MAX232EEPE+ is designed as line drivers / receivers for RS-232 and V.28 communications in harsh environments. Each transmitter output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks, without latchup. The various combinations of features are outlined in the selector guide. The drivers and receivers for all ten devices meet all EIA/TIA-232E and CCITT V.28 specifications at data rates up to 120kbps, when loaded in accordance with the EIA/TIA-232E specification. Its temperature range is -40°C to +85°C and its pin package is 16 plastic DIP.
It has three typical applications. (1) Notebook, subnotebook, and palmtop computers. (2) Battery powered equipment. (3) Hand held equipment. That are all the main applications.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its Vcc would be from -0.3V to +6V. (2) Its V+ would be from Vcc-0.3V to +14V. (3) Its V- would be from -14V to +0.3V. (4) Its input voltage would be from -0.3V to (V+ + 0.3V) for T_IN and would be +/-30V fr R_IN. (5) Its output voltages would be from (V- - 0.3V) to (V+ + 0.3V) for T_OUT and would be from -0.3V to (Vcc + 0.3V) for R_OUT. (6) Its short-circuit duration, T_OUT would be continuous. (7) Its continuous power dissipation would be 842mW. (8) Its operating temperature ranges would be from -40°C to +85°C. (9) Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +165°C. (10) Its lead temperature (soldering, 10sec) would be +300°C.
Also some electrical characteristics about it. (1) Its Vcc supply current would be typ 5mA and max 10mA. (2) Its input pull-up curent would be typ 15uA and max 200uA. (3) Its input leakage current would be max +/-10uA. (4) Its input threshold low would be max 0.8V. (5) Its input threshold high would be min 2.0V. (6) Its output voltage low would be max 0.4V.
