CS-8190 General Description

The CS-8190 us specifically designed for use with air-core meter movements. The IC provides all the functions necessary for an analog tachometer or speedometer. The CS-8190 takes a speed sensor input and generates sine and cosine related output signals to differentially drive an air-core meter. Many enhancements have been added over industry standard tachometer drivers such as the CS-289 or LM1819. The output uitlizes differential drivers which eliminates the need for a zener reference and offers more torque. the device withstands 60 V transients which decrease the protection circuitry required.The device is also more precise than existing devices allowing for fewer trims and for use in a speedometer.

It has many unique features: The first one is overvoltage rotection. The second one is return to zero. The third one is high input impedance. The forth one is high output torque. The fifth one is direct sensor input.Also, there are some absolute maximum ratings about it.Supply voltage(continous) is 24 V. Operating temperature is -40 to +105.Storage temperature is -40 to +165.Junction temperature is -40 to +150.ESD(human body model) is 4 kV.Otherwise, there are some electrical characteristics about it when Ta is between -40 and 85 and Vcc is between 8.5 V and 15 V, unless otherwise specified.Input comparator section:Positive input threshold is 1.0 V min, 2.0 V typ and 3.0 V max.Input hysteresis is 200 m vmin and 500 mV typ. Input frequency range is 0 kHz min and 20 kHz max. Output Vsat is 0.15 v typ and 0.40 V max when Icc is 10 mA.Output leakage is 10 uA max when Vcc is 7 V. Low Vcc disable threshold is 7.0 V min, 8.0 V typ and 8.5 V max.Logic 0 input voltage is 1 V min.
