The CS-8191 is a kind of precision air-core tach/speed driver with short circuit protection. It is intended for use with 4 quadrant air-core meter movements. It includes an input comparator for sensing input frequency such as vehicle speed or engine RPM, a charge pump for frequency to voltage conversion, a bandgap reference for stable operation and a function generator with sine and cosine amplifiers that differentially drive the motor coils.
There are some features as follows: (1)direct sensor input; (2)high output torque; (3)wide output voltage range; (4)high impedance inputs; (5)accurate down to 10 V VCC; (6)fault protection: overvoltage and short circuit; (7)low voltage operation.
What comes next is about the absolute maximum ratings: (1)supply voltage, VCC: 60 V when 100ms pulse transient and 24 V when continuous; (2)operating temperature range: -40 to +105; (3)junction temperature range: -40 to +150; (4)storage temperature range: -55 to +165; (5)electrostatic discharge (human body model): 4 kV; (6)load temperature soldering: 10 sec, max 260 peak when wave solder (through hole styles only) and 60 sec.max above 183, 230 peak when reflow (SMD style only).
