The MAX232ESE is a kind of line drivers/receivers which is intended for all EIA/TIA-232E and V.28/V.24 communications interfaces, particularly applications where ±12V is not available.
Features of the MAX232ESE are:(1): supply voltage (VCC) is -0.3V to +6V; (2): input voltages:TIN is -0.3V to (VCC - 0.3V); RIN (Except MAX220) is ±30V; RIN (MAX220) is ±25V; TOUT (Except MAX220) is ±15V;(3): output voltages:TOUT is ±15V; ROUT is -0.3V to (VCC + 0.3V); (4): driver/receiver output short circuited to GND is continuous.
The absolute maximum ratings of the MAX232ESE can be summarized as:(1) operate from single +5v power supply; (2) low-power receive mode in shutdown; (3) meet all eia/tia-232e and v.28 specifications; (4) multiple drivers and receivers; (5) 3-state driver and receiver outputs.

MAX232ESE+T General Description
The MAX232ESE+T is one member of the the MAX220 to MAX249 family of line drivers/receivers which is intended for all EIA/TIA-232E and V.28/V.24 communications interfaces, particularly applications where ±12V is not available. Its temperature range would be from -40°C to +85°C and its pin-package would be 16 narrow SO.
It has five applications. (1) Portable computers. (2) Low power modems. (3) Interface translation. (4) Battery powered RS-232 systems. (5) Multidrop RS-232 networks. That are all the main applications.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its supply voltage (Vcc) would be from -0.3V to +6V. (2) Its V+ would be from (Vcc - 0.3V) to +14V. (3) Its V- would be from +0.3V to +14V. (4) Its input voltages would be from -0.3V to (Vcc - 0.3V). (5) Its output voltages would be ±15V for Tout and would be from -0.3V to (VCC + 0.3V) for Rout. (6) Its driver / receiver output short circuited to GND would be continuous. (7) Its continuous power dissipation (Ta = +70°C) would be 696mW. (8) Its operating temperature range would be -40°C to +85°C. (9) Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +160°C. (10) Its lead temperature (soldering, 10s) would be +300°C. It should be noted that stresses beyond those listed under "Absolute Maximum Ratings" may cause permanent damage to the device.
Also some electrical characteristics about it. (1) Its output voltage swing would be min ±5V and max ±8V. (2) Its input logic threshold low would be typ 1.4V and max 0.8V. (3) Its input logic threshold high would be min 2V and typ 1.4V. (4) Its logic pullup / input current would be typ 5uA and max 40uA. (5) Its output leakage current would be typ ±0.01uA and max ±10uA. (6) Its data rate would be typ 200kbps and max 116kbps. And so on. If you have any question or suggestion or want to know more information please contact us for details. Thank you!
