The MBL8243 is designed as an input/output expander which provide a low cost means of I/O expansion for the MBL8048 series of single chip microcomputers.
It has many features. The first one is simple interface to fujitsu MBL8048 series and inter MCS-48. The second one is it would have four 4-bit I/O ports. The third one is AND and OR directly to ports. The fourth one is high current drive would be 5mA at 0.45V and 20mA at 1.0V. The fifth one is in-chip power-on reset circuit. The sixth one is single +5V power supply. The seventh one is N-channel silicon gate E/D MOS process. The eighth one is two package options which means standard 24-pin cerdip suffix:Z and standard 24-pin plastic DIP suffix:M. The ninth one is pin compatible with intel 8243 and fujitsu MBL82C43. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its supply voltage which would be from GND-0.3v to GND+7.0V. The second one is about its input voltage which would be from GND-0.3V to GND+7.0V. The third one is about its ambient temperature under bias which would be from 0°C to +70°C. The fourth one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -55°C to +150°C. The fifth one is about its power dissipation which would be 1W. It should be noted that permanent device damage may occur if absolute maximum ratings are exceeded.
Also some DC characteristics about it. The first one is about its input low voltage which would be min GND-0.3V and max 0.8V. The second one is about its input high voltage which would be min 2.0V and max Vcc+0.3V. The third one is about its supply current which would be typ 10mA and max 20mA. And so on.
