The TSC232 is a kind of dual RS-232 transmitter/receiver that complies with EIA RS-232 guidelines and is ideal for all RS-232C communication links. The device has a 5 V power supply and two charge pump voltage converters that produce +10 V/-10 V power supplies. It has four level translators.
There are some features as follows: (1)meets all RS-232C specifications; (2)operates from single 5 V power supply; (3)2 drivers and 2 receivers; (4)onboard voltage quadrupler; (5)±30 V input levels; (6)±9 V output swing with +5 V supply; (7)low power CMOS: 5 mA.
The following is about the absolute maximum ratings: (1)VCC: 6 V; (2)V+: 12 V; (3)V-: 12 V; (4)input voltages: -0.3 to VCC+0.3 V for T1IN, T2IN and ±30 V for R1IN, R2IN; (5)output voltages: V+ + 0.3 to V- -0.3 V for T1OUT, T2OUT and -0.3 to VCC+0.3 V V for R1OUT, R2OUT; (6)short circuit duration: V+: 30 seconds; V-: 30 seconds; T1OUT, T2OUT: continuous; (7)power dissipation: 675 mW (CERDIP), 375 mW (plastic DIP) and 375 mW (small outline (SO)).
