The W48S111 is designed as spread spectrum desktop / notebook system frequency generator. It features a two-pin, serial data interface that can be used to configure internal register settings that control particular device functions.
It has eleven features. (1)Maximized EMI suppression using cypress's spread spectrum technology. (2)Reduces measured EMI by as much as 10 dB. (3)I2C programmable to 133 MHz. (4)Two skew-controlled copies of CPU output. (5)SEL100/66# selects CPU frequency (100 or 66.8 MHz). (6)Seven copies of PCI output (synchronous w/CPU output). (7)One copy of 14.31818-MHz IOAPIC output. (8)One copy of 48-MHz USB output. (9)Selectable 24-/48-MHz clock is determined by resistor straps on power-up. (10)One high-drive output buffer that produces a copy of the 14.318-MHz reference. (11)Isolated core VDD pin for noise reduction. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its voltage on any pin with respect to GND would be from -0.5V to +7.0V. (2) Its storage temperature would be from -65 to +150°C. (3) Its operating temperature would be from 0 to +70°C. (4) Its ambient temperature under bias would be from -55 to +125°C. (5) Its ESDPROT input ESD protection would be min 2 kV. It should be noted that stresses greater than those listed in this table may cause permanent damage to the device. These represent a stress rating only.
Also some DC electrical characteristics about it. (1) Its combined 3.3V supply current would be typ 85mA. (2) Its combined 2.5V supply current would be typ 30mA. (3) Its input low voltage would be min GND-0.3V and max 0.8V. (4) Its input high voltage would be min 2.0V and max Vdd+0.3V. (5) Its input low current would be max -25uA. (6) Its input high current would be max 10uA. (7) Its input low current (SEL100/66#) would be max -5A. (8) Its input high current (SEL100/66#) would be max 5uA. And so on.
