The PCF8574ADWR is designed as one kind of 8-bit input/output (I/O) expander that can provides general-purpose remote I/O expansion for most microcon-troller families. Also this device provides an open-drain output (INT) that can be connected to the interrupt input of a microcontroller and the communication with this device is initiated by a master sending a start condition, a high-to-low transition on the SDA I/O while the SCL input is high.
Features of the PCF8574ADWR are:(1)low standby-current consumption of 10A maximum;(2)open-drain interrupt output;(3)compatible with most microco-ntrollers;(4)latched outputs with high-current drive capability for directly driving LEDs;(5)latch-up performance exceeds 100 mA per JESD 78, class II.
The absolute maximum ratings over operating free-air temperature range (unless otherwise noted) of the PCF8574ADWR can be summarized as:(1)supply voltage range, Vcc:-0.5 V to 7 V;(2)input voltage range, VI:-0.5 V to Vcc+0.5 V;(3)output voltage range, VO:-0.5 V to Vcc+0.5 V;(4)input clamp current, IIK:-20 mA;(5)output clamp current, IOK:-20 mA;(6)input/Output clamp current, IOK:±400 A;(7)continuous output low current, IOL:50 mA;(8)continuous output high current, IOH:-4 mA;(9)continuous current through Vcc or GND:±100 mA;(10)storage temperature range:-65°C to 150°C.
