The 4862G is short for TDA4862G. It is a kind of power factor controller (PFC) for high power factor and active harmonic filter. The device controls a boost converter as an active harmonics filter in a discontinuous mode (free oscillating triangular shaped current mode). 4862G includes an internal start-up timer, a high gain voltage amplifier, an one quadrant multiplier for approaching unity power factor, a zero current detector, PWM and logic circuitry, and totem pole MOSFET gate driver. Furthermore, 4862G is available in P-DSO-8-1 package.
There are some features about 4862G as follows: (1)IC for sinusoidal line-current consumption; (2)power factor approaching 1; (3)controls boost converter as an active harmonics filter; (4)internal start-up with low current consumption; (5)zero current detector for discontinuous operation mode; (6)high current totem pole gate driver; (7)trimmed 1.4% internal reference; (8)undervoltage lock-out with hysteresis; (9)very low start-up current consumption; (10)pin compatible to world standard; (11)fast overvoltage regulator; (12)current sense input with internal low pass filter.
What comes next is about the maximum ratings of 4862G: (1)current into GTDRV at pin 7, IGTDRV: -400 to 500 mA when observe Pmax; (2)clamping current into GTDRV at pin 7, IGTDCH: 100 mA max when VGTDRV > VCC; (3)Clamping current into GTDRV at pin 7, IGTDCL: -100 mA min when VGTDRV < -0.3 V; (4)voltage at VSENSE and pin 1, VVSENSE: -0.3 to 17 V; (5)voltage at VAOUT and pin 2, VAOUT: -0.3 to 6 V; (6)voltage at MULTIN and pin 3, VMULTIN: -0.3 to 17 V; (7)junction temperature, Tj: -40 to 150; (8)storage temperature, Tstg: -50 to 150.
