The 640-1 is a kind of solid state AC/DC relay. It is most frequently used as a data coupler, isolated line driver, current loop switch, and for general purpose analog and transducer signal switching.

There are some features as follows. First is solid state pin compatible replacement for DIP read relays. Secondly, it swithes AC or DC up to 50 V. Then is low on-resistance (2 ohms typical). Next is high switching speed. The last one is standard TO-116 DIP.

What comes next is about the electrical specifications (25 unless otherwise specified). The  minimum control voltage range is from 4.0 to 10.0 Vdc. The maximum must turn off voltage is 0.4 Vdc. The minimum dielectric strength (input to output) is 1500 V rms when 60 Hz, sine wave. The minimum isolation is 10 ohms. The maximum capacitance (input to output) is 5 pF. The maximum reverse voltage protection is 3 Vdc. The typical output "on" resistance is 2 ohms and the maximum is 5 ohms. The minimum output voltage (at any current) is 0 V peak and the maximum is ±50 V peak.
