The 74HC4051PW is one member of the 74HC4051 series.The 74HC4051 is 8-channel analog multiplexers/demultiplexers with three digital select inpu(S0 to S2), an active LOW enable input (E), eight independent inputs/outputs (Y0 to Y7) and a common input/output (Z).With E LOW, one of the eight switches is selected (low impedance ON-state) by S0 to S2. With E HIGH, all switches are in the high impedance OFF-state,independent of S0 to S2.

Features of the 74HC4051PW are:(1)wide analog input voltage range: ± 5V.; (2)low "ON" resistance:80 (typ.) at VCC - VEE = 4.5 V,70 (typ.) at VCC - VEE = 6.0 V,60 (typ.) at VCC - VEE = 9.0 V; (3)logic level translation:to enable 5 V logic to communicate with ± 5 V analog signals; (4)typical "break before make" built in; (5)output capability: non-standard; (6)ICC category: MSI.

The absolute maximum ratings of the 74HC4051PW can be summarized as:(1)DC supply voltage:-0.5 to 11.0V;(2)storage temperature range:-65 to 150;(3)power dissipation per package plastic DIL:750mW;(4)DC VEE current:20 mA;(5)DC VCC or GND current:50 mA;(6)plastic minipack (SO):500 mW.To avoid drawing VCC current out of terminal Z, when switch current flows in terminals Yn, the voltage drop across the bidirectional switch must not exceed 0.4 V. If the switch current flows into terminal Z, no VCC current will flow out of terminals Yn.
