ARA1400 General Description
The ARA1400 is a GaAs IC designed to provide thereverse path amplification and output level controlfunctions in a CATV Set-Top Box or Cable Modem. Itincorporates a digitally controlled precision stepattenuator that is preceded by an ultra low noiseamplifier stage, and followed by an ultra-linearoutput driver amplifier. The device is capable ofmeeting the MCNS/DOCSIS requirements forharmonic performance at a +60dBmV output levelwhile requiring only a single polarity +5V supply. Both the inputandthe output are single-ended andmatched to 75 Ohms, and a precision attenuatorprovides up to 56 dB of attenuation in 4 dBincrements. The device is offered in a 28-pin SSOPpackage featuring a heat slug on the bottom of thepackage.
