The DS1556P-100 is designed as a full function, year 2000-compliant (Y2KC), real-time clock/calendar (RTC) with a RTC alarm, watchdog timer, power-on reset, battery monitor, and 128k x 8 non-volatile static RAM.
It has ten features. (1)Integrated NV SRAM, real time clock, crystal, power-fail control circuit and lithium energy source. (2)Clock registers are accessed identically to the static RAM; these registers are resident in the 16 top RAM locations. (3)Century byte register; i.e., Y2K complaint. (4)Totally nonvolatile with over 10 years of operation in the absence of power. (5)Precision power-on reset. (6)Programmable watchdog timer and RTC alarm. (7)BCD coded year, month, date, day, hours, minutes, and seconds with automatic leap year compensation valid up to the year 2100. (8)Battery voltage level indicator flag. (9)Power-fail write protection allows for ±10% Vcc power supply tolerance. (10)Lithium energy source is electrically disconnected to retain freshness until power is applied for the first time. Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its voltage on any pin relatve to ground would be from -5.0V to +6.0V. (2)Its operating temperature range would be from 0°C to 70°C. (2)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to +125°C. (3)Its soldering temperature would be 260°C for 10 seconds. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some DC characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)Its active supply current would be max 85mA. (2)Its TTL standby current would be max 6mA. (3)Its CMOS standby current would be max 4mA. (4)Its input leakage current (any input) would be min -1uA and max +1uA. (5)Its output leakage current (any output) would be min -1uA and max +1uA. And so on.
