DS1801E

The DS1801E is designed as a dual audio taper potentiometer having logarithmic resistive characteristics over the device range. Each potentiometer provides 65 wiper positions with a 1dB increment per step and device mute. The 3-wire serial interface, using a CPU, provides the user the ability of reading or writing exact wiper positions of the two potentiometers.

DS1801E has ten features. (1)Ultra-low power consumption. (2)Operates from 3V or 5V supplies. (3)Two digitally controlled, 65-position potentiometers including mute. (4)Logarithmic resistive characteristics (1dB per step). (5)Zero-crossing detection eliminates noise caused by wiper movement. (6)Serial port provides means for setting and reading both potentiometers wipers. (7)14-pin PDIP, 16-pin SOIC, and 14-pin TSSOP packages. (8)Operating temperature range industrial: -40°C to +85°C. (9)Software mute. (10)Resistance available: 45k. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of DS1801E have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its voltage on any pin relative to ground would be from -0.7V to +7.0V. (2)Its operating temperature range would be from -40°C to +85°C industrial. (3)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to +125°C. (4)Its soldering temperature would be 260°C for 10 seconds. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some DC characteristics of DS1801E are concluded as follow. (1)Its input leakage current would be min -1uA and max +1uA. (2)Its wiper resistance would be typ 400ohms. (3)Its wiper current would be max 1mA. (4)Its logic 1 output current at 2.4V would be max -0.4mA. (5)Its logic 0 output current at 0.4V would be min 2mA. (6)Its standby current would be typ 12uA and max 30uA at 3V and would be typ 20uA and max 50uA at 5V. And so on.
