The DS18B20U is designed as digital thermometer which provides 9 to 12bit centigrade temperature measurements and has an alarm function with nonvolatile user-programmable upper and lower trigger points. communicates over a 1-wire bus that by definition requires only one data line (and ground) for communication with a central microprocessor.
It has many features. (1)Unique 1-wire interface requires only one port pin for communication. (2)Each device has a unique 64bit serial code stored in an onboard ROM. (3)Multidrop capability simplifies distributed temperature sensing applications. (4)Requires no external components. (5)Can be powered from data line. Power supply range is 3.0V to 5.5V. (6)Measures temperatures from -55°C to +125°C. (7)+/-0.5°C accuracy from 10°C to +85°C. (8)Thermometer resolution is user-selectable from 9 to 12bits. (9)Converts temperature to 12bit digital word in 750ms (max). (10)User-definable nonvolatile (NV) alarm settings. (11)Alarm search command identifies and addresses devices whose temperature is outside of programmed limits (temperature alarm condition). And so on.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its voltage on any pin relative to ground would be from -0.5V to +6.0V. (2)Its operating temperature range would be from -55°C to 125°C. (3)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 125°C. (4)Its reflow oven temperature would be 220°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be min +3.0V and max +5.5V. (2)Its pullup supply voltage would be min +3V and max +5V for parasite power and would be min +3V and max Vdd for local power. (3)Its thermometer error would be max +/-0.5°C from -10°C to +85°C and would be max +/-2°C from -55°C to 125°C. And so on.
