DescriptionThe FAN210SV06 TinyBuck? is a highly efficient,small-footprint, programmable-frequency, 6A integratedsynchronous buck regulator.
FAN21SV06 contains both synchronous MOSFETs anda controller/driver with optimized interconnects in onepackage, which enables designers to solve high-currentrequirements in a small area with minimal externalcomponents, thereby saving cost. On-board internal 5Vregulator enables single-supply operation for inputvoltages >6.5V.
The FAN21SV06 can be configured to drive multipleslave devices OR synchronize to an external systemclock. In slave mode, FAN21SV06 may be set up to befree-running in the absence of a master clock signal.
External compensation, programmable switchingfrequency, and current-limit features allow for designoptimization and flexibility. High-frequency operationallows for all ceramic solutions.
Fairchild?s advanced BiCMOS power process combinedwith low-RDS(ON) internal MOSFETs and a thermallyefficient MLP package provide the ability to dissipatehigh power in a small package. Integration helps tominimize critical inductances making layout simpler andmore efficient compared to discrete solutions.
Output over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current andthermal-shutdown protections help protect the devicefrom damage during fault conditions. FAN21SV06prevents pre-biased output discharge during startup inpoint-of-load applications.
