The HEF4059B is a type of divide-by-n counter and it can be programmed to divide an input frequency by any number from 3 to 15 999. The output signal is a one clock-cycle wide pulse and occurs at a rate equal to the input frequency divided by n. The single output (O) has TTL drive capability.

The DC characteristics of the HEF4059B can be summarized as:(1): output(sink) current low is 2.7 mA min(Tamb is -40, VDD is 4.75 V, Vo is 0.4 V, Vi is 0 or 4.75 V);(2): output(sink) current low is 9.5 mA min(IOL)(Tamb is -40, VDD is 10 V, Vo is 0.5 V, Vi is 0 or 10 V);(3): output(source) current high(-IOH) is 0.8 mA min(Tamb is -40, VDD is 5 V, Vo is 4.6 V, Vi is 0 or 5 V);(4): output(source) current high(-IOH) is 2.4 mA min(Tamb is -40, VDD is 10 V, Vo is 9.5 V, Vi is 0 or 10 V); (5): otuput(source)current high(-IOH) is 2.4 mA min(Tamb is -40, VDD is 5 V, Vo is 2.5 V, Vi is 0 or 5 V).
