The L6238 is a complete Three-Phase, D.C. Brushless Spindle Motor Driver system. The L6238 features both the Power and Control Sec- tions and will operate Stand Alone, or can be used in Higher Power Applications with the addi- tionofan externalLinearDriver.

Start-Up can be achieved with the Fully-Inte- grated Align + GO Algorithm or may be se- quencedmanuallyfor User-Defined start-upalgo- rithms.

A Digital PLL provideshigh accuracyand the ca- pability to do Master/Slave Synchronization for Disk Arrayconfigurations.

Programmable functions of the L6238 include commutation Timing Adjustment and Slew Rate Control for peakefficiencyandminimumnoise.

Protective featuresinclude Stuck Rotor\Backward Rotation Detection and Automatic Thermal Shut- down.
