The L780S05 is designed as one member of the L780S00 series whcih are 5V to 24V 1A 5-pin voltage regulators with strobe pin.

L780S05 has seven features. (1)Its output voltage would be 5V. (2)The strobe pin can be used to turn ON/OFF output voltage (active-low). (3)1A output current. (4)On-chip thermal protector. (5)On-chip overcurrent limiter. (6)On-chip ASO protector. (7)The use of package TO220-5H (5 pins) facilitates mounting and thermal design. Those are all the main features.

Some L780S05 absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its maximum supply voltage would be 35V. (2)Its strobe input voltage would be 18V. (3)Its strobe input current would be 5mA. (4)Its allowable power dissipation would be 1.75W and would be 20W at Tc=25°C. (5)Its thermal resistance would be 5°C/W. (6)Its operating temperature range would be from -20°C to 80°C. (7)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
