The LC79401D is a segment driver LSI for use with large scale dot-matrix LCD displays. The LC79401D latche 80 bits of display data sent from a controller using a 4-bit parallel transfer technique and generates LCD drive signals. When combined as a kit with a common driver, either the LC7943D (QIP80D), the LC79430D(QIP100D), or the LC79431D (QIP100D), the LC79401D can drive large screen LCD panels.

The features of LC79401D can be summarized as (1)incorporates LCD drive cirouits for 80 bits of display; (2)supports display duties from 1/64 to 1/256; (3)the provision of a chip disable pin supports power reduction in large-scale panels.; (4)allows external provision of the bias power supply; (5)operating supply voltageloperating temperature VDD (logic block): 5V±10%/-20 to +75°C, VDD-VEE (LCD block): 12 to 32V/-20 to +75°C; (6)data transfer clock: 6.0 MI-Iz bidirectional shifting supported; (7)data input: -4-bit parallel input; (8)CMOS process; (9)100-pin flat plastic package.

The absolute maximum ratings of LC79401D are (1)maximum supply voltage (logic) VDD max: -0.3 to +70V; (2)maximum supply voltage(VDD-VEE max):0 to 35V; (3)maximum input voltage VI max: -0.3 to VDD + 0.3V; (4)storage temperature Tstg: -40 to +125°C.
