The LM1812 is a general purpose ultrasonic transceiver designed for use in a variety of ranging, sensing, and communications applications.The chip contains a pulse-modulated class C transmitter, a high gain receiver, a pulse modulation detector, and noise rejection circuitry.

Features of the LM1812 are:(1)one for two-transducer operation; (2)transducers interchangeable without realignment; (3)no external transistors; (4)impulse noise rejection; (5)no heat sinking; (6)protection circuitry included; (7)detector output drives 1A peak load; (8)12W peak transmit power.

The absolute maximum ratings of the LM1812 can be summarized as:(1): supply voltage, V+(pin 12) is 18 V; (2): power dissipation is 1700 mW; (3): peak current(pins 6, 14) is 1 A; (4): input current(pins 4,6) is 50 mA; (5): operating temperature is 0 to 70; (6): storage temperature is -65 to +150; (7): lead temperature(soldering, 10 sec) is 260.
