The LP3985IM5X-2.5 is designed as one member of the LP3985 series which is designed as micropower, 150mA low-noise ultra low-dropout CMOS voltage regulator for portable and wireless applications with demanding performance and space requirements. It is stable with a a small 1F ±30% ceramic or high-quality tantalum output capacitor. The micro SMD requires the smallest possible PC board area - the total application circuit area can be less than 2.0mm x 2.5mm, a fraction of a 1206 case size. Typical applications include CDMA cellular handsets, wideband CDMA cellular handsets, GSM cellular handsets and portable information appliances.
It has five features. (1) miniature 5-I/O micro SMD and SOT-23-5 package. (2) Logic controlled enable. (3) Stable with ceramic and high quality tantalum capacitors. (4) Fast turn-on. (5) Thermal shutdown and short-circuit current limit. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its Vin, Ven would be from -0.3V to 6.5V. (2) Its Vout would be from -0.3 to (Vin+0.3) 6.5V. (3) Its junction temperature would be 150°C. (4) Its storage temperature would be from -65°C to +150°C. (5) Its lead temperature would be 235°C. (6) Its pad temperature would be 235°C. (7) Its maximum power dissipation would be 364mW for SOT23-5. (8) Its ESD rating would be 2kV for human body model and would be 150V for machine model.
Also some electrical characteristics about it. (1) Its output voltage tolerance would be min -2% and max 2%. (2) Its line regulation error would be min -0.19%/V and max 0.19%/V for 4.7 to 5.0 options and would be min -0.1%/V and max 0.1%/V for all other options.
