MC1595

The MC1595 is designed as wideband linear four-quadrant multiplier for use where the output is a linear product of two input voltages. Maximum versatility is assured by allowing the user to select the level shift method. Typical applications include multiply, divide, square root, mean square, phase detector, frequency doubler, balanced modulator/demodulator and electronic gain control.

It has six features. (1)Wide bandwidth. (2)Excellent linearity. (3)Adjustable scale factor, K. (4)Excellent temperature stability. (5)Wide input voltage range +/-10V. (6)+/-15V operation. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its applied voltage would be 30Vdc. (2)Its differential input signal would be +/-(6+I13 Rx)Vdc for V12-V9 and would be +/-(6+I3 Ry)Vdc for V4-V8. (3)Its maximum bias current would be 10mA. (4)Its power dissipation would be 862mW for D suffix, plastic package and would be 750mW for J suffix, ceramic package. (5)Its operating temperature range would be from -55°C to +125°C. (6)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)Its input resistance would be typ 35Mohms. (2)Its differential output resistace would be typ 300Mohms at 20Hz. (3)Its input bias current would be typ 2.0uA and max 8.0uA. (4)Its input offset current would be typ 0.2uA and max 1.0uA. (5)Its average temperature coefficient of input offset current would be typ 2.5nA/°C. (6)Its frequency response 3.0dB bandwidth, Rl=11kohms would be typ 3.0MHz. (7)Its common mode input swing would be min +/-11.5Vdc and would be typ +/-13Vdc. (8)Its common mode gain would be min -50dB and typ -60dB.
