The MM5456 is designed as digital alarm clock ratio chips which is monolithic MOS integrated circuits utilizing N-channel, low threshold, enhancement mode and ion-implanted depletion mode devices. Each circuit contains all the logic necessary for a digital clock with sleep and alarm control and is intended for clock ratio applications. Typical applications of MM5456 include alarm clocks, deak clocks, clock ratios, automobile clocks, stopwatches, industrial clocks, portable clocks and timers.
MM5456 has ten features. (1) Duplex LED display drive. (2) Fast / slow set capability. (3) 24-hour alarm. (4) "Snooze" function (9 minutes). (5) On-chip alarm oscillator. (6) Alarm tone output gated at a 2Hz rate. (7) Power fail indication entire display flashes at a 1Hz rate. (8) Automatic power-on reset. (9) PM display indicator. (10) Presettable 59 minutes sleep timer. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of MM5456 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its voltage at any pin would be from Vss to Vss+12V. (2) Its operating temperature range would be from -25°C to +70°C. (3) Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +150°C. (4) Its lead temperature (soldering, 10 sec) would be 300°C.
Also some electrical characteristics about MM5456. (1) Its power supply voltage would be min 9V and max 11V for output driving display and would be min 7V and max 11V for functional count operating.
