PD505 is a type of stanley photo darlington transistor which has three unique features: The first one is high photo current. The second one is best suitable for photointerrupter. The third one is efficient when used in combination with IR LED,BN505.Besides, it also has four applications: The first one is photoelectric switch, photoelectric counter. The second one is tape and card readers. The third one is tape-end detection sensors for VTR,cassette tape recorder.The last one is sensors for stroboscope.

There are some absolute maximum ratings about it. Collector dissipation(Pc) is 100 mW. Collector-emitter breakdown voltage(VCEO) is 20 V. Emitter-collector breakdwon voltage(VECO) is 5 V. Collector current(Ic) is 30 mA. Operating temperature(Topr) is -30 to +85. Storage temperature(Tstg) is -30 to +100.Otherwise, there are some electro-optical charactersitics about it.Collector-emitter dark current(ICEO) is 1 uA max when VCE is 10 V and Ee is 0. Photo current(Ic) is 0.8 mA min and 3.5 mA typ when VCE is 5 V , Ee is 0.01mW/cm².Peak sensitivity wavelength is 800 nm typ when Vcc is 10 V, Ic is 2 mA and RL is 100 ohms. Collector-emitter staturation voltage(VCE(sat)) is 0.7 V typ when Ic is 5 mA and Ee is 10 mW/cm².
