The R65C51 is designed as one kind of asynchronous communications interface adapter (ACIA) which provides an easily implemented, program controlled interface between 8-bit microprocessor-based systems and serial communication data sets and modems.
The R65C51 has many features. (1)Low power CMOS N-well silicon gate technology. (2)Direct replacement for NMOS R6551 ACIA. (3)Full duplex operation with buffered receiver and transmitter. (4)Data set/modem control functions. (5)Internal baud rate generator with 15 programmable bau rates (50 to 19,200). (6)Program-selectable internally or'externally controlled receive rate. (7)Programmable word lengths, number of stop bits, and pant bit generation and detection. (8)Programmable interrupt control. (9)Program reset. (10)Program-selectable serial echo mode. (11)Two chip selects. (12)1 or 2MHz operation. (13)5.0 Vdc+/-5% supply requirements. (14)28-pin plastic or ceramic DIP. (14)Full TTL compatibility. (5)Compatible with. R6500, R6500 and R65COO microprocessors. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of R65C51 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be from -0.3V to 7.0V. (2)Its input voltage would be from -0.3V to Vcc+0.3V. (3)Its output voltage would be from -0.3V to Vcc+0.3V. (4)Its operating temperature range would be from 0°C to 70°C and would be from -40°C to 85°C for industrial. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of R65C51 are concluded as follow. (1)Its input high voltage would be min 2.0V and max Vcc. (2)Its input low voltage would be min -0.3V and max +0.8V. (3)Its input leakage current would be typ +/-2uA and max +/-10uA. (4)Its output high voltage would be min 2.4V. (5)Its output low voltage would be max 0.4V. And so on.
