The RBG1210 Random Bit Generator produces truly random bits. Based on the naturally occurring random phenomenon, Jolmson noise, the RBG 1210 requires no initial starting value or seed. Furthermore, each new value is completely independent of all previous values. Unlike digital logic circuits or software based algoritbms, the RBG1210 is not pseudo-random; there is no repeating pattern, giving an infinite cycle size. This makes the RBG1210 ideal for applications where purely random bits are required. TTL compatible STROBE and OUTPUT signal pins are provided to allow the RBG1210 to be easily connected into any digital system.
The features of RBG1210 can be summarized as (1)operational speeds up to 20,000 bitsleecond; (2)each value is independent of all other values; (3)no seed value required; (4)no hardware/software elgerithms required; (5)based on johnson noise phenomenon; (6)single 12 Volt supply; (7)TTL compatible I/O; (8)shielded package.
The absolute maximum ratings of RBG1210 are (1)ICC supply current @VCC = 12V: 30 mA; (2)input current @ max input voltage VH = 7V: 0.2 mA; (3)high level input current VH =27V: 400uA; (4)low input input current VIL = 0.4V: -0.8 mA; (5)output short circuit current VCC = 12V: -100 mA; (6)supply voltage: 10.5/12.0/16V; (7)high level output voltage lOH= -400A: 2.7/3.5/ -V; (8)low level output voltage VIH = 2V; IOL = 8mA: 0.4/0.5V.
