The RF5651A is a kind of monolithic, switched-capacitor filter IC designed for testing telephony and telecommunication systems. The device contain three filters in a single 24-pin package. One filter meets C-message weighting specifications, the second filter meets program weighting characteristics as defined by bell systems technical reference, and the third is a 1010 Hz notch filter. The primary application for the device is as a measurement and testing device for signal-to-noise ratio, harmonic distortion and idle-channel noise within U.S. telephony system voice or data communication channels.
There are some key features of RF5651A as follows: (1)combination filter set: bandpass filter meeting bell system C-message weighting specifications, 1010 Hz notch filter and bandpass filter meeting bell system program weighting specifications; (2)three uncommitted op amps for user-designated functions; (3)±5 V to ±10 V power supply range; (4)operates from a low-cost 3.58 MHz TV colorburst crystal or from an external clock (TTL or CMOS); (5)double-poly NMOS switched-capacitor technology.
The following is about the absolute maximum ratings of RF5651A: (1)input voltage-any terminal with respect to substrate, pin (VSS): -0.4 to 21 V; (2)output short-circuit duration-any terminal: indefinite; (3)operating temperature: 0 to 70; (4)storage temperature: -55 to 125; (5)lead temperature (soldering, 10 sec): 300. Then is about the general device characteristics: (1)supply voltage, VDD: 5 to 10 V; (2)supply voltage, VSS: -5 to -10 V; (3)quiescent current, IQ: 15 mA max @ ±5 V (no load) and 25 mA @ ±10 V; (4)input clock level, VIL: VSS min and 0.8 V max; (5)input clock level, VIH: 2.2 V min and VDD V max; (6)output signal, VO: 4 Vp-p typ @ ±5 V supply and 10 Vp-p @ ±10 V supply; (7)crosstalk: -60 dB typ and -55 dB max; (8)total harmonic distortion, THD: 0.5% max @ 1 kHz PW and 0.5% max @ 1 kHz C-Message.
