Description

The RT9226B is a low cost, high-efficiency voltage-mode PWM controller for motherboard power supplyapplication. Synchronous N-channel MOSFET driver,short-circuit protection, and soft start function areintegrated in a single chip. A simple high power buckregulator with shutdown function can beimplemented with minimum external components.

The RT9226B provides current-limit protection bymonitoring the voltage drop across N-channelMOSFET in over current condition, therefore,eliminates the current sensing resistor and minimizesthe efficiency loss. The soft start function reduces thestress on power supply and components in power onduration.

The 200 kHz operating frequency and highspeed PWM control loop with Synchronous N-channel MOSFET driver provide optimizedcompromise between efficiency, cost, and responsespeed. Other features include output voltagemonitoring for power good indication and overvoltage protection.
