The S40D30 is designed as one kind of schottky barrier rectifiers with 40 amperes and 30 volts. This state-of-the-art geometry features epitaxial construction with oxide passivation and metal overlay contact. Ideally suited for low voltage, high frequency rectification, or as free wheeling and polarity protection diodes.
S40D30 has nine features. (1)Low forward voltage. (2)Low switching noise. (3)High current capacity. (4)Guarantee reverse avalance. (5)Guard-ring for stress protection. (6)Low power loss & high efficiency. (7)125°C operating junction temperature. (8)Low stored charge majority carrier conduction. (9)Plastic material used carries underwriters laboratory flammability classification 94V-O. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of S40D30 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its peak repetitive reverse voltage would be 30V. (2)Its working peak reverse voltage would be 30V. (3)Its DC blocking voltage would be 30V. (4)Its RMS reverse voltage would be 21V. (5)Its average rectifier forward current would be 20A and would be 40A for total device. (6)Its peak repetitive forward current (rated Vr, square wave, 20KHz) would be 40A. (7)Its non-repetitive peak surge current (surge applied at rate load conditions halfwave, single phase 60Hz) would be 350A. (8)Its operating and storage junction temperature range would be from -65°C to 125°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of S40D30 are concluded as follow. (1)Its maximum instantaneous forward voltage would be 0.55V at If=20A and Tc=25°C and would be 0.45V at If=20A and Tc=100°C. (2)Its maximum instantaneous reverse current would be 5.0mA rated DC voltage and Tc=25°C and would be 100mA rated DC voltage and Tc=100°C. And so on. At present we have not got so much information about this IC and we would try hard to get more information about S40D30.
