DescriptionThe SM15T36A is designed as one member of the SM15T series which is TransZORB surface mount transient voltage suppressor with peak pulse power if 1500W and breakdown voltage from 6.8 to 220V.
SM15T36A has eleven features. (1) For surface mounted applications in order to optimize board space. (2) Low profile package. (3) Built-in strain relief. (4) Glass passivated junction. (5) Low inductance. (6) Excellent clamping capability. (7) Repetition rate (duty cycle): 0.05%. (8) Fast reponse time: typically less than 1ps from 0 volts to VBR min. (9) Typical ID less than 1A above 10V. (10) High temperature soldering: 250°C/10 seconds at terminals. (11) Plastic package has underwriters laboratory flammability classification 94V-0. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings and electrical characteristics of SM15T36A (ratings at 25°C ambient temperature unless otherwise specified) have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its peak pulse power dissipation on 10/1000us waveform would be min 1500W. (2) Its power dissipation on infinite heatsink, Ta=50°C would be 6.5 watts. (3) Its peak forward surge current, 10ms single half sine-wave, undirectional only would be 200Amps. (4) Its max junction temperature would be 150°C. (5) Its storage temperature range would be from -65 to +175°C. (6) Its thermal resistance junction to ambient air would be 75°C/W. (7) Its thermal resistance junction to leads would be 15°C/W.
