The SN54HC664 is a kind of octal bus transceiver which is designed for asynchronous, bidirectional communication between data buses.SN54HC664 trasmits data from the A bus to the B bus or from the B bus to the A bus, depending on the level at the direction control input, DIR.

Features of of the SN54HC664 are:(1)bus transceivers with inverting outputs; (2)generates a parity bit for A bus and B bus ; (3)easily cascadable; (4)internal active pull-ups and pull-downs; (5)high-current 3-state outputs can drive up to 15 LSTTL loads; (6)package options include plastic small-outline packages, ceramic chip carriers and standard plastic and ceramic 300-mil DIPs; (7)dependable texas instruments quality and reliability.

The absolute maximum ratings of the SN54HC664 can be summarized as:(1): DC supply-voltage(Vcc) is -0.5 V to 7 V; (2):input diode current, IIK( for Vi<0 V or Vi>Vcc) is ±20 mA; (3): output diode current, IOK(for Vo<0 V or Vo>Vcc) is ±20 mA; (4): continous output current, IO(Vo is 0 to Vcc) is ±35 mA; (5): storage temperature(Tstg) is -65 to +150.
