The SN54LS446 is designed as one kind of quadruple bus transceivers for data transmission from individual lines of the A bus to individual lines of the B bus or the reverse, depending on the logic levels at the direction-control pins DIR1 through DIR4.

SN54LS446 has five features. (1)3-state outputs drive bus lines directly. (2)PNP inputs reduce DC loading on bus line. (3)Hysteresis at bus inputs improves noise margins. (4)Flow-thru data pinout (B bus opposite A bus). (5)Choice of true and inverting. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of SN54LS446 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage Vcc would be 7V. (2)Its input voltage would be 7V. (3)Its off-state output voltage would be 5.5V. (4)Its operating free-air temperature range would be from -55°C to 125°C. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics of SN54LS446 are concluded as follow. (1)Its high level input voltage would be min 2V. (2)Its low level input voltage would be max 0.6V.
