DescriptionThe SN74LS280N is designed as one kind of universal 9-bit parity generator/checker that features odd/ even outputs to facilitate either odd or even parity. And this device is designed without the expander input implementation, but the corresponding function is provided by an input at Pin 4 and the absence of any connection at Pin 3. This design permits the LS280 to be substituted for the LS180 which results in improved performance. The LS280 has buffered inputs to lower the drive requirements to one LS unit load.
Features of the SN74LS280N are:(1)generates either odd or even parity for nine data lines; (2)typical data-to-output delay of only 33 ns; (3)cascadable for n-bits; (4)can be used to upgrade systems using MSI parity circuits; (5)typical power dissipation = 80 mW.
The absolute maximum ratings of the SN74LS280N can be summarized as:(1)input HIGH voltage: 2.0 V;(2)input LOW voltage: 0.8 V;(3)input clamp diode voltage: -0.65 to -1.5 V;(4)output HIGH voltage: 2.7 to 3.5 V;(5)output LOW voltage: 0.25 to 0.4 V or 0.35 to 0.5 V;(6)input LOW current: -0.4 mA;(7)short circuit current: 20 to 100 mA;(8)power supply current: 27 mA.
