Bothdevices are designed tomeet the requirements of the Electronics IndustryAssociation Standard EIA-485. These devicesare optimized for balanced multipoint bustransmission at data rates up to and exceeding10 million bits per second. Each driver featureswide positive and negative common-mode outputvoltage ranges, current limiting, andthermalshutdown protection, making it suitable forparty-line applications in noisy environments.Both devices are designed using LinBiCMOSE,facilitating ultra-low power consumption andinherent robustness.
Both the SN65LBC174 and SN75LBC174 providepositive- and negative-current limiting andthermal shutdown for protection from line faultconditions on the transmission bus line. Thesedevices offer optimum performance when used
with the SN75LBC173 or SN75LBC175quadruple line receivers. The SN65LBC174 andSN75LBC174 are available in the 16-terminal DIPpackage (N) and the 20-terminal wide-body smalloutline intergrated circuit (SOIC) package (DW).
