The TCA940 is designed as a monolithic integrated circuit for class B audio amplification with up to 10W output power. TCA940 provides all the advantages of integrated AF amplifiers: constant idling current and voltage, high efficiency, low distortion; furthermore, an internal circuit protects it against overheating, supply overvoltage and load short-circuit.

Some absolute maximum ratings of TCA940 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be 24V. (2)Its peak output current (non repetitive) would be 3.5A. (3)Its peak output current (repetitive) would be 3A. (4)Its junction temperature would be from -40°C to 150°C. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -40°C to 150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics of TCA940 are concluded as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be min 6V and max 24V. (2)Its quiescent output voltage pin 12 would be min 8.2V and typ 9V and max 9.8V. (3)Its quiescent current would be typ 20mA and max 42mA. (4)Its bias current pin 8 would be typ 0.5uA and max 3uA. (5)Its output power would be typ 10W at RL=4ohms and Vcc=20V and would be min 7W and typ 9W at RL=4ohms and Vcc=18V and would be typ 7W at RL=4ohms and Vcc=16V and would be typ 6.5W at RL=8ohms and Vcc=20V and would be typ 5W at RL=8ohms and Vcc=18V. (6)Its voltage for input saturation peak would be min 250mV. (7)Its sensitivity would be typ 90mV with test conditions of Po=9W, Vcc=18V, RL=4ohms, f=1kHz and Rf=56ohms. (8)Its input impedance pin 8 would be typ 5Mohms. (9)Its frequency response (-3dB) would be min 40Hz and typ 20000Hz. (10)Its distortion would be typ 0.3%. (11)Its voltage gain (open loop) would be typ 75dB. (12)Its voltage gain (closed loop) would be min 34dB and typ 37dB and max 40dB. And so on.
