The XC5VLX30T-2FFG665C is designed as one kind of platform flash in-system programmable configuration PROM device that can be programmed individually, or two or more can be daisy-chained together and programmed in-system via the standard 4-pin JTAG protocol. Also this XC5VLX30T-2FFG665C is compatible with the IEEE 1149.1 boundary-scan standard and the IEEE 1532 in-system configuration standard.

The I/O, logical functions, and internal interconnections of this device are established by the configuration data contained in the FPGA's bitstream. And the configuration modes of it which are supported by the XCFxxP Platform Flash PROMs include: Master Serial, Slave Serial, Master SelectMAP, and Slave SelectMAP.
