Some surveys show that customers are beginning to buy the 3D televisions, but so many problems should be solved before its popularization. The 3D television was released in March this year, which is welcomed by people. Therefore, it is predicated that its sales will reach 4.2 million sets in the year of 2010, and it will increase to 27.4 million in 2012 all over the world. America, Japan and west Europe have become the mature market for the 3D television, while the Korea
and Australia is trying to develop the related market.

Although its growth is powerful, the market share of the 3D television is still small. It is predicated that the sales of liquid crystal television will reach 170 million this year, and the sales of LED backlight TV will breakthrough 26 million sets. Experts maintain that the 3D TV can not be widely accepted until three main problems are solved, namely, standardization, supply content and the Interoperability.

The blue-ray 3D standard has been put out in the year of 2009, but the other related standard has not been made. Content is also an important aspect. Whether the customers can get good experience or not is decided by the content supply. The suppliers and the broadcasting companies are trying to make the 3D content and service when they realize this. The last obstacle is related to the 3D glasses which are the most welcomed tie-in products of the 3D TV. In order to attract the customers to buy the product, manufacturers may use one or two glasses to go with the TV, however, the price also goes up. Moreover, the 3D glasses with different brand can not be commonly used.

Actually, the health problems caused by watching 3D programs also make people worry. Scientists confirmed the phenomenon of vergence-accommodation conflict which will make people tired and nervous. The problem is caused by the different lenses. All in all, the standard will make the customer accept the 3D television easily. The value chain of 3D is a complicated system from the content manufacturing to consumption, therefore, the corresponding standards are needed to ensure the interoperability and reduce the risks.
