Rapid Growth of USB 3.0 Chip CAGR Predicted as 120％ Increase in Five Years

According to the observation of a market research agency—DIGITIMES Research that since the COMPUTEX exhibition held in June 2010, some brand-leading manufacturers has successively released USB3.0 carried motherboard and terminal utilization products like laptop to push USB 3.0 to the forefront in PC application market.

The analyst of DIGITIMES Research Cai Huanxin indicated that the most outstanding characteristic of USB 3.0 is its transmission speed which is ten times faster than USB 2.0. The transmission bandwidth is up to 4.8 Gbps from 480 Mbps. As the price of USB 3.0 primary chip continuously slip down, plus many manufacturers release more PC related products, the shipment of USB 3.0 jumps sharply and improve the penetration in PC market.

According to the observation of the technology blue print of Intel and AMD, it can be learnt that ADM will be successively launching various platforms to support USB3.0 in this year and so does the Intel’s Chief River platform which will be released in the first half of 2012. USB 3.0 chip market now is forecasted to come into the period of accelerated developing.
