The X-FAB 0.35 micron foundry process is extended to support operating voltages up to 100V and operating temperatures of 175 degrees Celsius at the same time, which has not been done before. With this combination, the design and manufacture of ICs can require highly efficient power management for harsh environments.
The extended temperature range also makes the X-FAB 0.35 micron foundry process suitable for control devices inside the combustion or electric engine housing. It is also applicable for charge balancing applications, such as in batteries of hybrid and electric vehicles. The technology also can be used for motor control and power management or power conversion applications for a wide range of voltages in industrial, medical or consumer systems. All devices in the process will be conveyed in line with the quality standard defined by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) AEC-Q100.
All major electronic design automation (EDA) is covered by the XA035 process design kit which also contains exact models for all high-voltage transistors. A variety of standard cell libraries, each optimized for area, speed, low power or low noise. I/O libraries are the features of this technique. The customers of X-FAB need a foundry process that meets the extreme high-temperature and high-voltage conditions found in charge balancing and other automotive devices.
What is more, 28 new fully characterized devices are also released by X-FAB. 13 high-voltage devices with reduced Ron, bipolar devices, and OTP programming capability are included in. X-FAB models and documents all the devices precisely with detailed guide descriptions. A new library providing components for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection is included in XA035 technology, which can meet growing ESC requirements.
