The Cooperation between Atmel and Arduino Community

In the design and manufacture of microcontrollers, capacitive touch solutions, advanced logic, mixed-signal, nonvolatile memory and radio frequency (RF) components, Atmel Corporation is a leader all over the world. With the Arduino open source community, Atem is working to make development boards using ARM-based microcontrollers. The Cortex-M3-based SAM3U MCU is included in the microcontroller. The advantage of Arduino is that it is used by university and hobbyist communities developing new designs.

Arduino was a grass roots community that has been working with Atmel AVR products at beginning. Nowadays, it has grown to be a well-established organisation of true enthusiasts and hobbyists. People in Atmel also hope to have further cooperation with it. It is an open-source, community-based prototyping platform which now includes several boards featuring ARM-based MCUs.

I will list some product of Arduino in the below part of my article. Firstly, the Arduino Leonardo board is based on the Atmel ATmega32U4. A USB driver that can simulate a mouse, keyboard and serial port are contained in the software on the board. Moreover, the bootloader owns a serial port and USB mass storage driver. Secondly, the new boards which are based on the Atmel SAM3U ARM-based MCUs include a complete, flexible eco-system that provides our community of developers with access to the most sophisticated, yet easy-to-use platforms for designing innovative and fun electronics devices. Thirdly, The Arduino Due is based on an Atmel Cortex-M3-based microcontroller. Fourthly, the Arduino WiFi board, which is for hobbyists interested in WiFi applications, contains an add-on module using the Atmel AVR MCU and an H&D Wireless module.
