MultiPhy, Ltd, a major player in DSP-based high bandwidth CMOS communications semiconductors, launched the MP1100Q, a 100Gb/s DEMUX receiver chip recently to meet the low-cost and low-power needs of the quickly growing 100G metro transport marketplace.
The MP1100Q is a quad 25Gb/s to 28Gb/s CMOS demux receiver. It employs advanced DSP-based receiver technology using Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation (MLSE) algorithms, which improves overall performance by overcoming fiber impairments. The DSP-based MP11000Q integrates an analog-to-digital converter, high-speed CDR and DQPSK decoders.
Optimized for optical metro transport applications such as metro dense wavelength division multiplexing networks with link lengths of up to 800km and point-to-point links of up to 80km used for data center connectivity, the MP1100Q provides a high-performance solution. It enables optical network operators with the cost and power conscious 100G metro solutions that they require for the metro optical transport market.
The benchmark performance of the MP1100Q will allow optical module vendors to market solutions specifically for the metro. The strong response that received from the industry proves that the MP1100Q is truly a transformative device.
The MP1100Q boasts of a high performance MLSE DSP engine that allows it to mitigate the chromatic dispersion found in the deployed metro transport networks.
with the help of the MP1100Q based on its patent-pending ‘reduced bandwidth optics with MLSE’ technology, module and transceiver manufacturers can realize a 100G metro transport solution that utilizes low cost 10G electro-optics instead of 25G electro-optics.
The direct detect transmission methodology enabled by the high performance MP1100Q chip is the ideal solution for the cost-conscious and power-conscious 100G metro transport market where reaches between 40km and 800km are required.
MultiPhy is a fabless semiconductor company that provides digital-signal-processing based integrated circuits for high speed communications. The company develops 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s CMOS chips for direct detect and coherent transmission solutions, leading in the technology paradigm shift made necessary by the dramatic increase in network traffic. MultiPhy has world-class expertise in communications theory, optical communications, algorithms development, as well as analog, digital and mixed signal CMOS VLSI design. The company’s differentiated patent pending technology enables the development of cost effective, low power, high performance solutions at 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s as well as 1Tb/s Coherent OFDM technology for next generation networks.
