Recently, the LED lighting chip with switch dimming is introduced by this company. By quick toggling of a light switch, this chip named HV9801A dims LED lamp brightness to one of four preset levels. Light levels progress up and down sequentially. The lamp will beck to full brightness, when the switch is turned off for more than a second. This chip allows the dimming of lamps in any location. There is no flicker. Moreover, the energy efficiency can be improved when the excess circuitry is reduced. The circuitry is always used to accommodate the holding current of the triac.Dimming is through 1.2kHz PWM.
The firm has gained an 8:1 dimming ratio. LED drivers are designed to work with triac dimmers, and the best chips with the best drivers can hit 100:1. The topology is not isolated; so it can be used in the built-in alongside the LED. The Supertex IC applies a proprietary average-mode current control method, which is different from many LED driver ICs. Therefore, the loop compensation or high side sensing is not needed by the Supertex IC.
