The ITC series of transducers are released by LEM, which are developed for the galvaanically-isolated high-precision current measurements in rail-traction application. With the corresponding nominal current measurement ratings of 1000, 2000 and 4000A, there are three models, namely the ITC 1000-S, 2000-S and 4000-S. The ITC series can be used for the rail-traction industry section, which can reach the Class 0.5R measurement accuracy when Class 1R is required by the prEN50463 standard for on-board energy monitoring.
The ITC series have the linearity error of under 0.05% with offset currents of less than +/- 20µA. In order to keep optimum control of traction motors, the rail-traction industry needs unprecedented accuracy necessary, but mainly in energy metering to log energy usage. The industry is working to a provisional standard designated prEN 50463. ITC offers high insulation test voltage of up to 14kVrms/50Hz/1 min, and it is made to be insensitive to the position of the primary conductor within their large measurement aperture. The excellent immunity of ITC enables it to transient overloads and to external interferences.
At the voltage supply of +/- 24VDC, it consumes less than 80mA to under +/-340 mA across the measurement range. ITC 4000-S’s bandwidth is 82kHz. Moreover, the transducers are able to insert in large conductors with the apertures. The temperature range of the transducers is from –40 to +85°C.
