The NCV7425 and NVC7441 are ON Semiconductor’s recent introduced new integrated transceiver devices for applications in local interconnect network and control area network designs in automotive and industrial applications. Both of the two transceivers offer an economical, compact, and robust solution for next-generation automotive convenience applications as well as LIN- and CAN-based industrial designs.
The NCV7425 LIN+LDO transceiver features in integrated voltage regulator and reset functionality. The LIN version 2.x /SAE J2602 device interfaces between a LIN protocol controller and the physical bus, and supports transmission rates of up to 20 kb/s. The NCV7425 supports loads up to 150 mA and 3.3V or 5V output, and is compliant with the latest automotive standards. With a bus voltage of ±45V, the device offers on-board functions which include thermal shutdown, indefinite short-circuit protection, load dump protection to 45V, and ESD protection up to ±10 kV.
The NCV7441 dual CAN transceiver, integrates two independent high-speed CAN transceivers, can be individually connected to two CAN protocol controllers. The CAN channels can be separately put to normal or low current standby mode in which remote wake-up from the bus is possible. This feature reduces overall power consumption, and provides cost and space savings by replacing two single CAN transceivers with a dual transceiver in one package. It offers high-speed communication at up to 1 Mb/s, while ESD performance in excess of ±10 kV ensures reliable communication in automotive and industrial environments. Low electromagnetic emissions alleviate the need for an external choke further reducing component count, board space, and cost.
The NCV7425 and NCV7441 are AEC-Q100 qualified, and have rated operating junction temperature ranges of -40℃ to +150℃ and -40℃ to +125℃, respectively. The NCV7425 is in a Pb-free, RoHS-compliant SOIC-16 WB EP package, and is priced at $0.84 per unit in 1,500 unit quantities. The NCV7441 is in a Pb-free, RoHS-compliant SOIC-14 package, and is priced at $0.95 in 3,000 unit quantities.
