TDK-Lambda Announced 65-watt MWS65 Power Supplies

TDK-Lambda Americas recently announced the 65-watt MWS65 series of open-frame, medical/ITE AC-DC power supplies. It uses 4kVac reinforced input to output isolation and output to ground isolation of 1500Vac, and all models in the MWS65 series are adapt to UL/EN60601-1 Editions 2 & 3 safety approvals for medical equipment and include onboard dual fusing making them ideal for use in B (Body) and BF (Body Floating) type medical applications.

With high efficiency and high power density in innovative design, the MWS65’s consumption is less than 0.3W power under no-load conditions. With an industry standard footprint of 2 x 4 inches and a low 1 inch profile, the MWS65 is a compact, convection cooled unit that is also suitable for light industrial, point-of-sale terminals/displays, test & measurement and broadcast equipment applications.

The device is operating from a universal 90 to 265Vac input, and it is provided in five models with nominal outputs of 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V or 48Vdc. All outputs can be adjusted by ±10%. With a flat efficiency curve of up to 89%, from 20 to 100% load, the MWS65 can be operated at full load from -20 to +50°C ambient temperature and up to +70°C with suitable derating.

The MWS65 carries a host of safety agency approvals including UL/CSA/EN60950-1, EN50178 (OV II) and UL/EN60601-1, as well as compliance to EN5011/EN5022-B, FCC Class B and VCCI-B for both conducted and radiated EMI. The MWS65 series are available now and priced from $32.00 each in 50 piece lots.
