Atmel’s 5in and 10in Automotive Touchscreen and Touchpads are Available Now

Founded in the year of 1984, Atem Corporation is an industry leader in secure system, especially for the smart card market. System-level solutions built around flash microcontrollers are the focal point of this company. Its products include microcontrollers, and its own Atmel AVR and AVR32 architectures, radio frequency devices, EEPROM and flash memory devices, and a number of application-specific products.

Ateml’s maXTouch family is available now. It is designed for 5in and 10in automotive touchscreen and touchpads used in centre stack displays, navigation systems, radio human-machine interface (HMIs) and rear-seat entertainment systems. The mXT768E and the mXT540E are contained in the automotive-qualified maXTouch devices. The temperature range of these devices is from -40 up to +105 degree C. The superior noise immunity is offered by maXTouch, thus the shields are not needed.

The automotive-qualified maXTouch devices are suitable to work in the very noisy environment with the high signal-to-noise ratio. Moreover, the touch with a “gloved” finger can be sensed by the device for it has high signal-to-noise ratio. User may have intended and unintended gestures on the touch screen. Unintended gestures, such as resting hand on the screen, can be classified and rejected by the mXT768E/ mXT540E devices. These devices embed single- and dual-touch gesture calculation.

The targeting applications of maXTouch are frequency hopping during burst generation, self calibration, detect integration addressing EMI/EMC requirements and high reliability in harsh environments.
