The FreeRTOS+IO and FreeRTOS+CLI are announced by Real Time Engineers, which support for NXP’s LPC1700series. ARM Cortex-M3 is the base of NXP’s LPC1700 series.
LPC1700 microcontrollers are first to be supported by FreeRTOS+IO and FreeRTOS+CLI extensions. Agreed by NXP and Real Time Engineers, the FreeRTOS+IO peripheral driver interface and FreeRTOS+CLI command line interpreter will be free, also under commercial licensing terms, when deployed on an NXP microcontroller. New extensions can support the microcontrollers which were originally released under a dual open-source/commercial license. With FreeRTOS, NXP’s latest generation ARM Cortex-M0, M3, and M4 microcontrollers are all available.
By providing a Linux/POSIX-like interface, the FreeRTOS+IO can support common on-chip peripherals and abstract the peripheral interface details. Just like circular buffer and zero-copy interrupt transfer modes, the +IO supports UART, I2C, and SSP in SPI mode in polling. A user-extendable command-line interface is provided by FreeRTOS+CLI to the target.
There are many examples for implementing commands, such as ’run-time-stats’ and ‘task-stats’. The ’run-time-stats’ is to see the amount of time each task has spent in the running state; the ’task-stats’ can be used to see a snapshot of task state information. Moreover, the familiar file system ’dir’, ’del’ and ’copy’ are also the commands that are implemented in a featured example.
