The 7407 is designed as hex buffers with high voltage open-collector outputs. It contains six independent gates and each of which performs a buffer function. The open-collector outputs require external pull-up resistors for proper logical operation.

Some absolute maximum ratings of the 7407 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be 7V. (2)Its input voltage would be 5.5V. (3)Its output voltage would be 30V. (4)Its operating free air temperature range would be from 0°C to 70°C. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics of the 7407 are concluded as follow. (1)Its input clamp voltage would be max -1.5V. (2)Its high level output current would be max 250uA.
