The AM188ER-40KC  microcontrollers are part of the AMD E86™ family of embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors based on the x86 architecture. The AM188ER-40KC microcontrollers are the ideal upgrade for designs requi ring 80C186/80C188 microcont roller compatibi l ity, increased performance, serial communications, a direct bus interface, and integrated memory.

The AM188ER-40KC microcontrollers integrate memory and the functions of the CPU,nonmultiplexed address bus, timers, chip selects,interrupt controller,DMA controller, PSRAM controller,watchdog timer, asynchronous serial port ,synchronous serial interface,and programmable I/O (PIO) pins on one chip. Compared to the 80C186/80C188 microcont rolle rs, the AM188ER-40KC microcontrollers enable designers to reduce the size, power consumption, and cost of embedded systems, while increasing functionality and performance.
